Wander a little. Stay for another coffee. Make a trip of it.
Explore the Old Town
Nafplio was the first capital of modern Greece. Explore its Venetian-influenced lanes, café-lined squares, boutiques and waterfront promenade. Look out across the harbor to Bourtzi Castle.
Beaches & swimming
Arvanitia is close to town and is great for a quick swim. Karathona has a broad sandy bay, while Tolo, Plaka in Drepano and Kondyli are further options if you are exploring by car. Facilities and access can vary by season.
Castles & viewpoints
Climb up to Palamidi Fortress for sweeping views across Nafplio and the Argolic Gulf — there are many steps, so take water and plan for the heat. You can also admire Bourtzi Castle from the harbor.
A little further afield
For a day trip, consider the ancient theater at Epidaurus or the archaeological site of Mycenae. Boat trips, kayaking, cycling, olive-oil tastings and wine experiences are also offered in the region. Availability varies, so book independently in advance.
